Who is Julie Gledhill?
After many years working in large corporate businesses in Finance Director roles, Julie grew tired of business life and resigned to train as a yoga teacher with Cat Kabira in magical Bali. This was in the early Summer of 2016 and, although she was initially unsure whether she had the desire or skill to teach and saw the training primarily as personal development and ‘time-out’, by the time she returned to the UK she knew she wanted to share her love of the practice with students.
The training was in Hatha with a strong flavour of Forrest Yoga since Cat at one time assisted Ana Forrest. Cat included a module on energetics and cranio-sacral therapy and the training also included Yin yoga; Cat is more-than-a-little-bit psychic and able to absolutely tune into the mood of the room, which also proved interesting!
Julie found time to develop her long-standing but stop-start love of yoga in 2014 whilst working in the Netherlands and at that time practiced many styles including the dynamic practices of Ashtanga and Bikram as well as Hatha, Vinyasa-Flow and Forrest. All of these styles influence her teaching as she likes to teach with variety and to introduce some challenge and fun where appropriate. At the end of the year in Haarlem, Julie returned to classes at Equilibrium and the next twelve months of solid, quality, regular classes gave her the grounding she needed for her training.
Julie has been teaching part-time in local gyms/leisure centres, hired halls and for Corporate clients since training and also runs courses for the City College including classes at the local mosque and schools. She wants to deepen her own practice and continue to develop her teaching and is currently considering further trainings and taking time to choose the best path.
