Who is Janet Taylor?
Janet originally comes from a small village in Cheshire, but moved to Peterborough in 1977 after completing her degree in Dentistry at Manchester University and working there for a short while after graduation. She first discovered yoga at a gym in 2002 and was one of the first students through the doors when Equilibrium Yoga Studio opened. Yoga was her sanctuary after a long stressful day in practice (dental not yoga!).
Her first yoga teacher training was an Ashtanga based Hatha yoga style with Brian Cooper starting in February 2012. Within 2 weeks of taking retirement from a long career in dentistry in October 2012 she took the first (and as yet only) Jivamukti teacher training held in the UK under there guidance of Sharon Gannon, David Life, Yogeswari and Patrick Broome. She has also taken a yoga teacher training course in restorative yoga with Beverley Nolan. In 2016 she attended Gong Master training with Don Conreaux and Aiden McIntyre and soon after acquired a’family of gongs and Himalayan singing bowls’. Janet loves teaching yoga and considers herself very privileged and blessed to be able to pass on the teachings of yoga to others in all of her classes. "As soon as I took my first Jivamukti Class I was hooked'- it is a dynamic style of yoga set to music and classes also include chanting and yoga philosophy". Janet enjoys compiling a playlist each month that is in-keeping with the ‘Focus of the Month’ and loves the creativity of sequencing her classes. To help with inspiration she attends yoga classes and workshops and reads yoga books for leisure, her bookshelves and kindle are both fast filling up with yoga related books! What does Janet do at Equilibrium?Janet teaches at the Peterborough studio. She teaches Jivamukti Yoga (including courses for beginners), Restorative Yoga, Hatha Yoga and also holds Gong Baths.
